Based at the University of Milan, Department of Social and Political sciences, the Centre for the Observation of Legislatures is a non-partisan and non-profit research centre aimed at fostering cross-disciplinary studies on the functioning and evolution of national legislative bodies.
COoL conducts and disseminates research, organises lectures and conferences, and convenes roundtable discussions on a wide range of topics. Its research output and activities are of interest to both practitioners and specialists in legislative studies and comparative politics.
The website offers access to the Italian Law-Making Archive (ILMA), the first database of its type to provide an online search interface allowing the selective download of data on legislative output, actors and political context in Italy from 1987 to 2008. It also constantly publishes working papers, research reports, journal articles and book reviews by the Centre’s members.
